Duo 12-21

Duo 12-21, formed by Estonian guitarist Kelly Johannes (2002) and Portuguese guitarist Bárbara Macedo (2004), was born from their passion for both: Classical & Electric guitar music and soundscapes. The symbolic name “12–21” reflects the idea of contrast and connection of two different worlds which are usually being separated.

By exploring between these different yet connected sound worlds they have created a unique and innovative concert program, which combines classical and electric guitars –  all in one concert!

Their program includes works by celebrated composers from the classical tradition, including J. S. Bach and C. Debussy, alongside contemporary composers such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass.

They also perform their own arrangements of music by jazz musicians such as Tigran Hamasyan and Brad Mehldau.
